We had the privilege of hosting an inspiring event at Runway East Bloomsbury, featuring a live fireside chat with entrepreneurs Michia Rohrssen and Alfie Whattam. This event was part of the DECODED podcast series, where Michia shared his incredible journey from starting a tech business at age 25 to selling it for an astounding $110 million.
Highlights of the Event
The evening was filled with valuable insights as Michia discussed his experience founding Prodigy, a company that developed cutting-edge software for car dealerships. Despite the challenges he faced—such as raising investment without prior exits and competing against larger players—Michia successfully navigated the entrepreneurial landscape and achieved a remarkable exit.
Alfie Whattam conducted a compelling interview, diving deep into the lessons Michia learned along the way. Instead of focusing solely on product-market fit or fundraising strategies, Michia emphasized life lessons that resonated with the audience:
- Don’t Defer Happiness: Instead of waiting for milestones to find happiness, Michia encouraged attendees to cultivate satisfaction in the present.
- Building a Personal Brand: He highlighted the importance of a strong personal brand, which can help transition to new ventures even if a business fails.
- Set Bold Goals: Michia shared how sharing ambitious goals with others creates accountability and drives commitment, illustrated by his experience learning Chinese in just 30 days.
